Dr. Adamu Christoper Iorfa

Dr. Christopher Iorfa Adamu is a Senior Lecturer of Geochemistry and Economic Geology in the Department of Geology, University of Calabar. He continually challenges his students and sets high expectations and inspires them to achieve personal and academic success. Dr. Adamu stands as an example of integrity to his students - intellectually, academically, and interpersonally. He began his teaching career at the College of Advanced and Professional Studies Makurdi as an Assistant Lecturer in 1994 and was promoted through the ranks to Principal Lecturer in 2010. Dr. Adamu was appointed Head of Department (2006-2010) and Examiner on the geology programmer of the Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB), ABU Zaria for more than fifteen years.  He joined the services of the University of Calabar in 2011and has been offering a wealth of talent in the development and implementation of educational technology tools and applications in the classroom, laboratory and in the field. He adopts creative teaching strategies that fully engage students in the learning process. He is also deeply invested in achieving tenure through administrative service committee contributions and an accomplishment-oriented approach to teaching and other services. Dr. Adamu received the B,Sc (Hons) degree in Applied Geology from ABU Zaria, Nigeria in 1987. He earned the M.Sc. and a PhD, in Environmental Geosciences from the University of Calabar. He is in touch with current trends in his field of specialty. The several publications (>20) he has made in reputable journals and the numerous conferences he has attended attest to this claim. His current research includes geoenvironmental modeling and simulation; environmental mineralogy; medical mineralogy and clay mineral studies. Dr. Adamu was born about 54 years ago to the family of Zaki Adamu Ujah at Ichol in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State. He is happily married and the marriage is blessed with four lovely children. His hobbies include reading, travelling and gardening.
