Dr Victor Ekam is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Calabar. He obtained his PhD in Toxicological/ Clinical Biochemistry from the University of Calabar in 2009. His scholarly contributions include teaching, research and mentoring of students at all leavels. Dr Ekam began his academic career as an assistant lecturer in the University of Calabar in October 2002. He has taught biochemistry to students in medicine and biological sciences as well as basic / allied medical sciences, at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level. He has supervised eight MSc and Five PhD candidates as well as several BSc candidates. He has served as Departmental time-table officer and SIWES co-ordinator for about seven years and is currently the head of Department. His research interests include; phytomedicine, drug-nutrient interaction, nutritional toxicology and analytical biochemistry..
