Utomobong Nsebot is a Lecturer in the Department of History and International Studies with research interest in Gender history and migration history. She commenced her lecturing career in 2018 at the University of Calabar where he is, currently. She holds a Master of Arts Degree in International Relations from the University of Bedfordshire, United Kingdom and a Bachelor of Art in Modern Language (French) from Kwame Nkrumah University of science and technology, Kumasi, Ghana. She is a member of the Historical Society of Nigeria. She has taught the courses: Introduction to Gender Studies, African Diaspora and African Development amongst others. Her research interests borders around Gender History, Migration History and Diapora Studies. She is currently working on the roles migrant women are playing in their host communities, focusing on these women because the role they play, though enormous, is not usually documented. She has publications in the area of gender mainstreaming and popular culture. She is of the opinion that a country’s development plan can be only achieved if the totality of its workforce comprising of men, women, youth and children play their integral parts coherently without any group being marginalized. An advocate of equal opportunities, she believes the tenets of standpoint feminism which believes that women, through their experiences as participants and observers in state affairs, are valuable assets in ensuring the state moves forward. .
