Dr. Teresa Achi Osaji (Nee Njar) is a Senior Lecturer on contract appointment with the Department of Nursing Science, Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, University of Calabar, Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. She is from Ikom Local Government Area, Cross River State and a widow with Four (4) children. She is basically a Professional Nurse with the following educational and professional qualifications: First School leaving Certificate, West African School Certificate, Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Midwife (RM), Registered Midwife Tutor (RMT), Bsc Nursing (Upper Division), Masters in Public Health (MPH) and PhD (Medical Sociology). Dr, Osaji is a Fellow of the West African College of Nursing (FWACN). She served in the State Civil Service and was Principal of the School of Nursing, Calabar and finally retired in 2006 as a Deputy Director of Nursing. She took a contract appointment in 2007 as Lecturer 1 with the Department of Maternal and Child Health Nursing, Faculty of Nursing Sciences, College of Medical Sciences, Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State. She served there as Ag, Head, Department of Maternal and Child Health Nursing (2007 to 2016), Hall Warden (200), Faculty of Nursing Postgraduate School Representative, Chairman Faculty of Nursing, Student’s Disciplinary Committee among other academic responsibilities. Aside from lecturing, supervising and mentoring Undergraduate Nursing Students, she stood in for the Dean of the Faculty whenever the need arose. As an Ag. Head, she contributed immensely to the development of the Curriculum for Postgraduate Programme (specifically, Master Degree in Maternal and Child Health Nursing), in the Department of Maternal and Child Health Nursing, Faculty of Nursing Sciences, College of Medical Sciences, Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State. The programme which had since 2016 started and as approved by the Nigeria University Commission (NUC). At present Dr. Teresa A. Osaji is a Senior Lecturer with the Department of Nursing Science, University of Calabar, Calabar. She lectures, supervises and mentors the Undergraduate as well as Postgraduate Nursing Students. She also serves as the Departmental Student’s Welfare Officer. She has been a Member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Education Committee since 2017. She was an External Examiner to the Department of Nursing University of Port Harcourt 2010 to 2014, a National Examiner to the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) 1998 till date, a member of Curriculum Development Committee for Postgraduate Programmes in Nursing for the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. Dr. Osaji has presented academic papers at workshops internationally and nationally. She has attended several academic workshops in and outside the country. She has Ten (10) academic publications credited to her. She is a Master Trainer, South South Zone, NMCN, on Student Centered Learning (SCL) 2018 to date. Dr. Teresa Osaji is a Leader, mentor and a team player who has and is still contributing to the growth and development of the Nursing Profession. She is a Lady Knight of the order of St. Mulumbar Nigeria in the Catholic Church. .
