Mr. Stephen Nyong was employed in the services of the University of Calabar, Department of Theatre and Media Studies in 2013 as an Assistant Lecturer, but later re-deployed to the Department of Mass Communication upon its establishment in 2017. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A. Hons) degree in Mass Communication from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a Master of Science (M.Sc) in the same discipline from Benue State University, Makurdi. Nyong is a communicologist, teacher, researcher, and prolific writer who has published in academic journals as well as supervised many under-graduate students' projects, having also attended conferences and presented scholarly papers at different fora. As part of his research project, Nyong recently applied to the Efik Language Development Programme Committee under the supervision of the Obong of Calabar for a grant to carry out a project on, “The Reactivation and Sustenance of Indigenous Broadcast Programming in the Electronic Media (CRBC) as an Antidote to the Extinction of Efik Cultures”. He belongs to professional organisations including the African Council for Communication Education (ACCE) Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and he is currently a doctoral candidate in the Department of Mass Communication, Ebonyi State University Abakaliki..
