Ugar, Samuel Izama is a lecturer II in the Department of Geology, Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Calabar. His current research focus is on Structural Geology with Geophysics. Other fundamental areas of research interest include Tectonics, Petroleum Geology, Basin Analysis, Groundwater Investigations and Mineral Exploration. He holds a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Geology (University of Calabar, 2002 ), M.Sc in Petroleum Geophysics (University of Calabar, 2011), and PhD in Structural Geology with Geophysics in- view (University of Calabar,). Ugar, Samuel Izama joined the service of the University of Calabar in 2012 as an Assistant Lecturer. He was promoted to the rank of Lecturer II on October 1, 2016, a position which he currently holds. He has served diligently in various capacities in the University including; Seminar Coordinator (2013 till date ) Departmental field work coordinator, Deputy Coordinator, pre- degree quality assurance , NAPE Staff Adviser, Coordinator History and Philosophy of Science and supervision of undergraduates project (2013 till date). Ugar, Samuel has participated in different academic workshops and presented papers in conferences. He currently has academic publications in reputable journals and others in press. Samuel is a recipient of several awards. They include : Cross River State Scholarship (2008-2010), Federal Government of Nigeria Scholarship (2009-2011) and NAPE Prof . Charles Ofeogbu Scholarship for the best graduating masters student in Geophysics (2017). He currently participates in teaching and carrying out both field and laboratory-based research in the Department of Geology. He is a member of various local and international professional bodies. They include : Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE), Nigerian Mining and Geoscience Society (NMGS), American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), Nigerian Association of Hydrogeologists (NAH), Nigerian Association of Geophysicists (NAG). .
