Dr. Kalu Iroha Ogbonna is a Senior lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology, Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Wildlife Resources Management. He holds a B. Agric., M. Sc degrees in Agricultural Extension and Community Development, obtained from University of Nigeria, Nsukka and a Ph. D degree in Rural Sociology from University of Uyo, Nigeria. He got into the employment of university calabar as an Assisstant Lecturer in 1993 and have served the university for more than 20years where he acquired tremendous wealth of working experience. He has a vast knowledge in the operations and problems of the university. In the course of contributing his quota in the area of community service, Research and teaching, he has also served various capacities both within and outside university such as: Member, Board of Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Wildlife Resources Management; Member, Board of Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology;Examination officer, Dept. of Agricultural Economics and ExtensionSport Coordinator, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Calabar; Chairman, Departmental Graduate Committee, University of calabar; Departmental Coordinator, Year 4 Practical Programme; Member, Faculty of Agriculture Research committee; Member, Departmental Result vetting committee; Member, Departmental Quality and Assurance committee; Research Consultant, West African Agricultural Productivity Programme(WAAPP); President, Calabar Museum Society; Investment Secretary, Academic Staff union of Universities(ASUU), Unical Branch; Vice Chairman, Academic Staff union of Universities(ASUU), Unical Branch; Acting Head of Department, Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology; Member, Board of Governors, Unical Demonstration Primary school. He has demonstrated extensive academic and administrative scholarship and leadership within the period of his employment in the university of Calabar. His vision and mission as a member of the academic community is to contribute in producing graduate and undergraduate scholars that will compete favourably in the global academic world and to contribute in building the university of calabar, to attain the enviable height of a model university that will attract international visibility. He has publications in both local and international journals. He is happily married with children. .
