Nnenna Eme Ukandu grew up in Umuahia in Abia State of Nigeria. She obtained her Bachelor degree in Agricultural Science at the University of Calabar, in Cross River State, Nigeria in 1995, and graduated with an Honours Degree in Animal Science in 2000. She later obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management while working with Abia State Electoral Commission as an Administrative Officer, recruiting and training ad hoc workers. On arrival in Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Cape Town in 2006, she registered for a direct entry program to obtain a Bachelor of Technology in Business Management (BTech), after which she continued with her Master Degree in the same field but specialized in Human Resource Management (MTech). She furthered her studies by enrolling for her Doctoral studies in Human Resource Management while she provided lectures on a part-time basis at the Certified Institute of Bookkeepers and Accountants. The subject of Ukandu’s DTech thesis is a comparative assessment of the utilization of electronic human resource systems as a decision-making tool by selected South African and Nigerian UNIVERSITIES. Utilising the mixed method (triangulation), and examining six universities – three in South Africa and another three in Nigeria. Ukandu found, among others , that two reasons account for universities’ inability to fully adopt the E-HRM. These include insufficient IT workforce, and support infrastructure. Electronic human resource management systems is a system that is used by the human resource practitioners to automate their work functions and improve work efficiency. A key result of her doctoral work is a model for proper implementation and utilization of E-HRM as a decision – making tool for human resource management functions at universities. There is no doubt that practitioners and scholars will benefit from the model. Ukandu has shared some of the findings in the doctoral study with several audiences at international conferences. She currently has seven publications in peer-reviewed journals. More so, in the year 2016, she join Shekinah HR consulting firm and Noble business consulting firm. The firms were involve in conducting training, performance appraisal, workshops and more for different organizations. In Decemeber 2018, she secured a lecturing job with the University of Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria, were she is presently working as a lecturer. Ukandu has served for three years in the institution and expecting to be promoted to a lecturer 1. .
