Rev. Imo Edet Umoinyang is a Research Professor of Educational Evaluation (Mathematics and Science Education programmes) in the Institute of Education, University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria. He holds a Ph.D from the premier university, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria (1999); M. Ed. from the prestigious University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria (1992); Diploma in Computer Science, University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria (1996), B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics (Ed.) from University of Calabar, (1988) and Nigeria Certificate of Education (N.C.E.) (Chemistry/Mathematics) from the famous College of Education, Uyo; B. A. (Theology) from World Harvest Bible College, Calabar – Nigeria. He has Doctor of Divinity (Honoris causa) of ZOE Life Theological College, Philadelphia, USA (2012) and Doctor of Sacred Letters (Honoris causa) of Hood – Speaks Theological Seminary, Ndon Ebom Uruan, Akwa Ibom State. (2013). He was Examinations Officer of the Institute of Education (1992 – 2004 & 2006 – 2010); Head of Department of Educational Technology (2004 – 2006) and Director, Institute of Education (2011 – 2016). He is a Fellow of the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria. He has successfully supervised 19 Ph.Ds. His edge cutting research has been on Differential item functioning in Mathematics achievement test. His current research is on item format and secondary school students’ academic achievement in mathematics. His community service has earned him two chieftaincy titles of Obong Ifiok from Ukana West Clan (2017) and Iberedem Ukpom (2018). His email address is [email protected]. .
