Striving also to create maximum interest in their programme of study leading them to become future scholars and specialists. Research record is of competent standard. Mrs Elza Cletus Okpako resumed work in the University of Calabar as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Genetics and Biotechnology in December 1993. She rose to the rank of Senior Lecturer in the year 2015. Apart from lecturing, she has undertaken many other duties most especially that of an Examinations Officer in the Department. She holds a B. Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Botany awarded by the University of Bombay, India in 1974 and 1977. She was a member of the Step B research team that researched on ‘resuscitating production and domestication of endangered plants through enhanced propagation and conservation in gene banks and in vitro’. Mrs Okpako has published over ten journal articles and has attended many conferences in her field. She is married with children..
