Dr Eja Iwara Eja joined the services of University of Calabar, Nigeria in 2013 as a Senior Lecturer in the then Department Geography and Environment Sciences. He was later promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 2016. He holds a Ph.D degree in Eco-Tourism and Recreational Planning (2011), M.Sc. degree Environmental Planning and Resource Management (2006) and a B.Sc. degree in Geography and Regional Planning (2000). All his degrees were awarded by the University of Calabar, Nigeria. His main area of specialization is tourism and hospitality studies. He has served his Department and Faculty as Coordinator, Tourism programme between 2014 and 2016. Dr Eja was appointed the pioneer Acting Head of Department, Tourism Studies, University of Calabar in June 2016. He has successfully supervised and co-supervised many graduate students in the field of tourism. Dr Eja is a regular participant in many conferences, workshops, seminars and symposia where he has been making presentation. Dr Eja has over thirty publications in reputable local and international journals He is a member of many professional bodies including Association for Tourism Development in Nigeria, Association of Nigerian Geographers and Nigerian Environmental Society.
