Dr Delight Omoji Idika was a college teacher at University of Calabar International Secondary School, Calabar. She rose through the ranks to attain the rank of Senior Mistress. While with the college, she served in various capacities including Head of Department of Social Science (2004-2006), Superintendent of Senior Examination Class (2008) and member, Welfare and Disciplinary Committees (2005- 2007) before she joined the service of the mainstream, the University of Calabar as an Assistant Lecturer in the then Department of Educational Foundations, Guidance and Counselling in 2010. She was promoted to the rank of Lecturer 1 in 2017. She obtained her B. Ed. in Social Sciences (Economics) from the University of Benin in 1985, Diploma in Computer Science in 1993, Post Graduate Diploma in Management (GDM,1998), Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA, 2001), Master’s degree (M. Ed) and Ph.D, both in Educational Research and Statistics, in 2005 and 2016 respectively from the University of Calabar. She has been involved in teaching, research, project supervision and mentoring of undergraduate and post-graduate students, some of whom are today established in various fields of endeavours as professional teachers, doctors, engineers, pilots, consultants, managers and entrepreneurs. She has contributed to several academic conferences and has more than twenty-nine publications in both local and international peer-review journals to her credit. Dr Delight O. Idika has also attended training workshops and capacity-building seminars. Her areas of research interests include improving research skills and practices of academic staff, measurement and evaluation of student and school achievement, and improving student learning through authentic and innovative assessment. She is one of a number of groups of few persons carrying out research investigation under Tetfund Research and has been involved with her group in a Research Grant Award with Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC). Part of her community services includes her active representation as a member of the resource verification team of the University (2020); member, Faculty of Education Conference and Research Seminar/workshop Committee (2018-2019); member, Research/Seminar Committee of the Institute of Education (2021 to date) and member, Quality Assurance Committee of the Institute of Education (2021 to date). Dr Delight O. Idika is currently serving on secondment at the Institute of Education, University of Calabar, where she is meeting the research needs of the Institute and contributing to the remolding of practicing and would-be teachers. She is a member of several professional associations including the Association of Educational Researchers and Evaluators of Nigeria, Educational Assessment and Research Network in Africa, Society for Psycho-Social Research of Nigeria and World Conference for Curriculum and Instruction. .
