Mrs. Anitha Prakash Rao, started her career in the University of Calabar as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Microbiology on 13th of June, 2014. She is presently working at Lecturer II since 1st October, 2017 and carrying out her Ph.D. program in the same department of the University. She holds Master of Science (M.Sc.) and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in General Microbiology from Bangalore University, India. She also holds Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from Kuvempu University and additional qualification of Diploma in Bioinformatics from Integrated Biotechnology Extension, India. She worked as a Research trainee in ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Karnal, Haryana, India, during the course of her Ph.D., she carried out her partial bench work activities over there upon invitation from ’Indian Council for Agricultural Research’ (ICAR) New Delhi, India. She has bagged awards as ’Best Post Graduate Paper presenter’ and ’Best Poster presenter’ and prizes for collage on science fiction and essay writing in various inter college competitions. She has been performing supervision duties and mentoring the graduate students in handling and carrying out their academic projects with them. She has been actively participating in the Conferences organised by Scientific communities like ’Nigerian Society of Microbiology’ (NSM), ’Nigerian Society of Biochemsitry and Molecular Biology’ (NSBMB), ’National Academy of Dairy Science India, (NADSI), South Asian and Swedish Network on fermented foods’ (SASNET-FF), ’Biotechnology Society of India’(BSN), Biopesticides Society of Nigeria’ (BpSN) within and outside the Universities of the state and country. She is carrying out her program in the area of ’Food and Industrial Microbiology’ under the mentorship of the abled supervisors Prof. A. A Brooks and Dr. Mrs. Asitok of the department and Scientist Dr. P.V Behare, Scientist, Dairy Microbiology division at NDRI, India. She is working on African fermented foods, Structural and functional genomics of Fermented milks Production of Exopolysaccharides from Lactic Acid Bacteria, Non-Dairy funtional foods. She has four papers published in accredited journals and two are in the process of publication..
