Affiong Fred Effiom is a lecturer with the department of Theatre and Media Studies University of Calabar, she is a Fulbright Scholar with the University of Texas at Austin, United States of America and has attended conferences within and outside Nigeria and is also a member of different Professional bodies. She is also the Director of the University of Calabar Performing Company (UCPC) – the teaching support unit of the department. Affiong teaches different courses in the Department of Theatre and Media Studies University of Calabar, which include, but not restricted to Directing, Acting, Semiotics, Script Writing / Interpretation, Applied Theatre and Carnival at the diploma and undergraduate levels. .
