The Post Graduate School (PGS), University of Calabar has honoured one of its own, Prof. Imoh Edet Umoinyang for his meritorious and selfless service during his time as Dean of the Post Graduate School.

 

In a brief but colorful sendforth event which was held at the Board Room of the Post Graduate School, the substantive Dean of the Post Graduate School, Prof. Eyong Ubana Eyong called on staff to pray for the outgone Dean as he moves on to the next level in his future endeavours, stressing that the event became necessary to specially thank him in recognition of his sterling qualities.

 

Also speaking, the Director, Institute of Education, Prof. Paul Itari lauded the honouree for simply sticking to excellence and elevating the values of hardwork and devotion to duty above everything.

 

The Director commended the Postgraduate School for the honour, adding that, it being the first of its kind,  could not have come at a better time.

 

The Co-coordinator of Programmes, PGS, Prof. Emmanuel Ekuri while recanting their relationship which began in the University of Ibadan described Prof. Umoinyang as a diligent and hardworking academic whose short stint with the Post Graduate School brought about unprecedented achievements.

 

Responding, an obviously elated immediate past Dean of the Post Graduate School, Prof. I. E. Umoinyang said he was overwhelmed by the honour done to him by the PGS, describing the event as a pleasant surprise.

 

He reiterated his call on staff to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness, particularly those he may have offended in the course of his work, adding that, his actions were not personal but for the greater good of the Post Graduate School and the University of Calabar at large.

 

The brief but memorable event witnessed an avalanche of goodwill messages from guests notably, the Deputy Dean, PGS, Prof. John Shiyam and the Chairman, Committee of Deans, Prof. Idongesit Akpabio, as well as, a Principal Assistant Registrar, PGS, Barr. (Mrs.) I. E. Usukumah.

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of a gift to the outgone “first” Dean of the PGS.
