The Task Force committee on Business Operation on Campus (COBOC) has been cautioned against cutting corners in the course of discharging their duties, saying such acts may deter the smooth operations of the committee and hamper the good intentions of management.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi gave the caution during the formal Inauguration of COBOC, in the Vice Chancellor’s conference room.

She advised members of COBOC against indulging in sharp practices but should rather display a high level of sincerity and diligence in their duties.

Prof Florence Obi further warned them against illegal extortion from members of the university community, as every income generated, must be accounted for.

Prof. Obi said that COBOC is saddled with the responsibility of generating funds, from all the business ventures on campus, and that school charges and funds from federal government was grossly inadequate to run the affairs of the university.

According to her, selection of members into COBOC was based on merit, stressing that no one was appointed on grounds of settlement.

Hear her, ‘’ If you cut corners, corners will cut you. You must insist on doing the right thing at all times’’.

Earlier, the Director of COBOC, Prof. Chris Chukwurah applauded the Vice Chancellor for deeming it fit to appoint them into the committee, saying that members were carefully selected.

He also promised to work in unison with members of the committee to deliver on the mandate assigned to the committee.
